Choosing an Aquarium and Fish Tank Heater
An aquarium or fish tank heater is often a necessity, particularly if you have a group of saltwater or freshwater fish. Aquarium heaters can play a major role in keeping you fish healthy. They are an important factor when it comes to the overall health of your fish because hey will need a certain temperature in order to thrive. When choosing fish tanks heaters remember to consider the size of your aquarium or tank and the temperature that will be most suitable for you fish as this may vary.
The temperature of the room where your tank is placed can be a deciding factor to which size of heater you purchase. For example, if the room temperature in your living room does not fluctuate a lot then it is very likely that a smaller heater will do the job because the temperature will be predictable and it will need to use too much heat to get to the optimal temp. Conversely, if your aquarium is in your bedroom or hallway, the temperatures may fluctuate more wildly and a larger heater will be required.
And finally, the location in which you place your heater should be selected carefully in order to maximize efficiency. It is generally recognized that the best place to situate your heater is a space where water flows abundantly such as an area around an air pump. The reason why heater placement here is good is because the heater will heat up area around the flowing water quickly so that it can circulate throughout the whole tank.
